The kidnapping of Cerberus was Hercules’ final labour, and also his most dangerous. Kidnapping the very beast that guarded the entrance to the kingdom of Hades, keeping the living from entering the realm of the dead.

Appollodorus tells us that Cerberus was indeed a strange mix of creatures, three heads of wild dogs (as opposed to the fifty Hesiod so passionately describes), the tail of a dragon and a back covered with the heads of snakes. A beast that still stands vigil to this day, never slain in battle and undefeated except at the hands of Hercules.

So it is, that when three of the oldest guilds on Rubi-Ka decided to merge, it was with the intent of guarding that which is most precious. Freedom.

And what better symbol than the three-headed guardian of myth, the three founding guilds unified into a whole, stronger, more fearsome and never relenting in their stewardship. Freedom will always be under threat, whether it is from the corporate greed of Omni-Tek or the power mad hunger of the Unredeemed we can never relinquish our vigil.
