Nano-Technician: Don't buy all the nanos!

Postby Legrandchef » Sun Nov 09, 2003 1:49 pm

If I have the idea of this forum correctly then it is for passing on advice and asking questions. If I have the wrong idea please let me know.

So I thought I would start off with a simple piece of advice for any up and coming nano technicians. There is so much overlap among the nt nanos that it would be a waste of time to buy them all unless you were rich and wanted to make a collection.

Well spoken - one really only needs a handfull of the nukes to be a good NT - same as there are tons of really crap guns out there and only a few that shine. All the calms, roots, layers and the rest are nice as you level up tho, perhaps with the exception of the blinds and Enfraams Fortification lines which are more 'optional'

Maybe we should compile a list?

Personally I like the following nukes, ranging from low ql (top) to high qlm but I'm sure there's other that should work well.

Viral Assault - ql 66
Feeble Gravitational Anomaly - ql 90
Ol' Faithful - ql 95 (great dmg over time, hard to replace for many lvls NOTE: only 60% NR and 'ok' min dmg, lands on lvl 250+ Sentries too!)
Unstable Hadron String - ql 119 (very low NR: 85)
Burning Quartet - ql 126
Stargasp - ql 156 (very fast little nuke, low taunt compared to dmg output over time)
Crown of Frost -ql 156 (-115 point nanoskill debuff, MUST for PvP! Lower versions exist)
Annihilating Hadron String - ql 165 (very low NR: 85)
Blaze of Hephaestos - ql 169 (very decent AoE)
Stinging Missile Swarm - ql 179
Izgimmer's Enveloping Flame - ql 182
Volcanic Eruption - ql 182 (fast AoE nuke, but low min. dmg and short range)
Kel's Neutronium Plaything - ql 212 (uber AoE nuke, but long recharge. Common drop from team mission bosses)
Izgimmer's Last Word - ql 212 (Only useful in some situations esp. soloing. Common drop from team mission bosses)
Candycane - ql 195 (Drops off high lvl unique npc 'Ljotur the Lunatic', multi team)
Resonance Blast - ql 200 (Drops off high lvl unique mob 'Agent Lamb', multi-team)

At sometime in the future I'll work out a list of what I think an NT needs and I'll post it on the forum.

must say I agree to this alot, and would also put in that check the stats on the very expenciv SL nanos before u consoder them cause many of them are just crap compared to the good old rubika nanos, that means in speed vs dmg. SL nanos seem to have a fine basic rule almost though the whole line of nukes and that is they are very slow to cast (( all capped at 2 sec )) but they recharge fast. so my advise is that u should see if there ain't already a rubika nuke to 1/10 of the price that works the same or even better before u run off and think that SL nanos are ubha

When an ARK comes and help he will tell you:
"I totally understand u'r frustration"
"Is there anything else I can help you with today before I leave"

Could not agree more. I have been to vendors in Penumbra garden and have yet to see a nano which can compare with Candycane. I did manage to upload Cortex accelerator after someone had given me composite mochams so you have have a nice boost to your int/psy if you can find an mp first so that I can cast it.
