Moving to Jamaica... time for a new comp

Postby Sidarion » Fri Sep 08, 2006 11:00 am

Moving to Jamaica prompted me to update my 4 yr old hardware to something more state-of-the-art. I built meself the following baby... inserting the last screw on a gloomy, stormy night, a lightning bolt hit the tower case. I was then seen jumping around while cackling madly: "It's alive! It's alive!"

Here it is:

AMD 64 FX2 Opteron 2,4 Ghz
4 Gb Corsair Platinum Ram
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe board
2 (two!... YES... TWO!!) Geforce 7900 GTX 512 mb @ 630 Mhz
Gigabyte full tower case
3 x 200 Mb WD Sata Raid 0 array
Zalman full copper cooler
6 fans
and the usual paraphernalia

21" flat screen
7:1 Dolby Sourround Stereo

Everything... I mean everything runs at 1600x1200 at the highest settings without the processors even getting warm...

I am in heaven!

Sid

That's the PC I would build....If I had tons of cash.

Try not to get killed in Jamaica...it has a very high murder rate per capita...lots of gangs.

What TR said :D

I mean... girls, beaches, cigars, cheap rum... I would find it hard to get any playtime (ok I don't get it in Norway either atm but that's another story)

Bragging rights, my friend... bragging rights :D

Oh... and the rum is indeed flowing, the cigars are not exactly cheap (at least not the Jamaican ones, cos they are quite rare) but you get some wonderful deals on Cuban cigars (4,50 € for a Cohiba Corona)...

..oh and it is fun to play on such a machine...

:D

Soon come, friends!

Lata mon,
