Okies folks, The Launch is now behind us but how you peeps thought it went ?

Few things that i had probs with:

I had serious fps problems on our first alien encounter and died before i could do anything, i was buffing my pet when the hordes cut through us...pet responded my attack command when i rezzed at SL garden (yep, forgot to save at wa because all so new and was in hurry to get to guild spot:)

That new gui has borged font sizes, so its difficult to close bp´s if the name is long.

Did we have the first HQ up and first to be attacked by aliens? it seemed so as i noticed we had attleast half of RK population there = Laaaag

Yup it was cool to be the first really organised guild and first to be attacked. This has got to be down to the brilliant work done by Nusse on our behalf and all the others involved in purchasing land.buildings and farming components. THANKYOU AND GRATS GUYS.

I also found quite a few bugs Timpuri but nothing as bad as some earlier releases and I'm sure there will be much patching of the coming days/weeks. Hopefully things will settle down soon once more people get their HQ and other stuff sorted... then with luck we will be able to have Cerberus only Alien raids which will be way better than the anarchy that happened last night.

That said - I got inside the spaceship and it was very cool! The only problem was that due to the massive number of high level players from other guilds those that got selected had a very hard time in the ship as the mobs were of such a high level. We only got to level 2!!

I hope everyone else is enjoying the new expansion as much as me and here's to many more successful encounters with the guild :D

I agree, although I survived the initial attack all through to the boss, it reminded me of a Tchu raid but without the ability to choose when to attack.

Teams were still forming when the aliens arrived and started killing peeps.

We appear to have about 1 minute from the alarm sounding till the first aliens arrive, I suggest we team quickly and those in a team move to one side so those not in a team can be found and recruited quickly.

It should be easier as time goes on and the rest of RK have their own battles to deal with and not just ours.

I did like the fact that if we get all 5 guilds together and time it well we can, on a Sunday for example, switch off the cloaking shield in each city one by one and help each other out killing aliens. This would mean uber alien XP and although we can only enter the ship when our city is attack it should be cool anyway :D

IT MUST BE STRESSED:
Alien XP is not pooled.
When u die u lose all unsaved alien xp, I know, I was 1 point off a level and died. Save ur sorry butts between fights, u will be thankful for doing so. Hopefully we will have an insurance and reclaim terminal in the city soon, maybe 10 they could get busy :)

Just one other minor point

Yes, i forgot to praise Nusse for excellent work!!!
I wasnt lucky (or correct lvl) to get invited to shipraid, but it was awesome experience still on the ground.
Im sorry for Keho about some ninjalooter hitting the bossmob, that item was supposed to stay in our org...afterall it was our attack and the first one to land RK

You guys really got the first attack on RK1?
That is so awesome

Remember to take screenies of anything interesting. Particularly the new outfits--any decent portraits I'd be keen to see up on the Cerberus homepage.

not sure actually, but i got the feeling we had the first attack...
Afterall, the hq parts dropping mobs were not camped atm we roamed for them. After hour passed those places were camped so ive heard.
Would be nice to get confirmation, im sure that is seen in server db´s who was the first to have hq and aliens yesterday

Had my first alien fight or two tonight, especially defending guild HQ. Polished off the aliens and the boss in fine style (that is, all of us, not just me) but found the lag quite bad and very frustrating. Did not receive invite to go on alien ship which was not much fun. Have half a level of AI xp so far.

Ive been only to one alien attack sofar, the initial one and i must agree with Chef about huge lag. Offcourse there were lots of guests killing the beasts but anyway i think that the attack takes way too much computer resources.
I am not convinced im continuing playing ao, not based on what ive seen sofar attleast. Well, i got good reason for a brake next week maybe ill change my mind then
I got 2weeks subscription left, and ill give that time to FC correct what i think is seriously wrong in this expansion. And i must look into my wallet also if i can afford better pc atm, i think i cannot participate in AI content due to ridicilous fps and lag. Takes the fun out of playing if you cant see/do anything and only hope you wont wake up in reclaim.
20 guys and General mob is enough to make my pc scream in pain, 40 guys and horde of aliens i can only sit back and watch the screensaver...
Ahh well...life is a bitch, then you marry one

Perhaps one shouldn't trash FC for an expansion during the first days or week. Nomatter how much things are tested, it will never be possible to really simulate a real live server. Things will come up that they couldn't even imagine.

I think that AI is one of the better expansions I have seen so far. They put in tremendous work into it, and there is always a financial side to everything. They have a budget and a timeframe, and they have to work around that. If FC didn't make money on our beloved AO, there would be no more AO.

I don't think any gamecompany could release a patch or an expansion without people screaming that they will leave or that its seriously wrong, destroying the game etc.

Would it be better if they did nothing? How fun would that be :)

yes, correct...nothing is perfect on launch. I do know that from previous experiences i have. And i applaude to FC for the effort, really...

But due to some issues i have, its impossible for me to attend to AI content.
So, it means i seriously doubt im willing to invest more to subscriptions as it would require lot of dough this instant to a new pc.
Ive had a lot of trouble in SL too, and ive managed to play with current setup only by avoiding crowded places. Heckler team i can still cope no probs but Vanya for example is horrible experience...just like watching a screensaver on locked computer
But, as i stated im giving the game some time to adapt...and i dont mean it should change to my favour on nothing. I just need to let it cool down so we would have only 20 folks on alien raid instead of 20 us plus 30 guests.
Im going to worktrip on monday and be back before the weekend, so ill be around. I just want to take some distance for things that annoy me the most in games...low fps&lag.
You must understand how frustrating its to get a new game and discover its not playable in your computer.
I did match the requirements for it attleast, im running : 1.4GHz TB Athlon, 512DDR, Radeon 9600Pro
Next set would take me about 500Eur cash, without new graf card...

Its a mix of new content that people want the most of straight off, and some people wanting phat loot and alien lvl30 the first week. I do hope and beleive that after a week or so, there wont be all that many "guests" attending attacks on our place. There might also become some agreement that we do not "aid" our allies unless asked for, due to the lag and deturrent game performance this brings. You are not the only one Timpuri, i have it about the same way regarding lag. Tabbibng for a critter, to find out that it is in fact dead before I get to fire off a shot, due to slow update But still, I am just patiantly waiting for the first hype to wear off among people.

Reducing your view distance might help alot. Then it goes to a super fast screensaver & with lots of hotkey mashing - becomes playable :P
