Ok...in an attempt to top "Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.", Im gonna start a serious discussion about...The Matrix. Yeah know...try and figure what the Matrix REALLY is...and if the real world...is really the real world..
Where did I come up with this you ask? Well..yesturday at work..me and my buddys started talkin about Revolutions, trying to figure out whats gonna happen, we got deep into philosophy (yeah...a buncha EB Monkeys talk about philosophy....so what?) and deeper meanings of the human soul...in other words...we came up with some pretty far out there conclusions. Many, you may have heard...but we got awsome evidence to support it.
So....start the discussion...Ill type up some stuff...

So no insults!

OK, I'll start with the gaps that Reloaded has left within my ideas for the Matrix.
Bear in mind, I loved the first film and I so hope that the third answers these questions for me.....
1. OK, please someone explain to me how an agent can enter the real world through the phone lines. The matrix is a computer program designed to connect to the senses and thoughts of an individuals mind from within the brain itself. Therefore, your own thoughts can be taken through the environment which the matrix has to offer. This is explanatory. What isnt is the fact that a computer file ie, an agent, a sub routine manages to access and take over a real live human being. Please explain because as far fetched as things go, this is absolutely impossible.
2. Neo, in his infinite wisdom, actually turns around and hits two sentinels with a Real Life EMP by using his hands. Is he or is he NOT out of the matrix at this point? I beleive he is therefore wtf just happened??????
Either there is a matrix within a matrix and also therefore, noone actually knows which is the real world or the producers of the film were taking acid when they thought up the script.
3. I really enjoyed the fighting in the playground but Neo decides to fly away when too many agents begin to emerge. Why oh why didnt he use his intelligence and protect himself a little better by actually flying away in the friggin first place. That way, he would have been safer and seen to be making better judgements and decisions. From a movie point of view, it's all good viewing but if I was Neo, I wouldnt be fighting anyone purely because I'm so powerful, I wouldnt have to fight anyone.
These are only three of the many, many questions I have regarding the second film and would appreciate peoples views on how the third one will pull all this together.

No-one can tell you what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.
Peg, yes your points 1 and 2 both happened, and certainly not because the writers were trippin' out. It's a popular theory at the moment that the "Real World" is indeed still a Matrix, hence a computer program being able to exist, and Neo still having powers, just not realising until now.
Regarding point 3 and the "Burly Brawl" scene: yeah, that was gratuitous. Easily avoided if Neo had taken off as soon as he saw trouble. Exactly the same outcome would have resulted story-wise, but the producers couldn't have shown off their computer wizardry
I read an awesome report about the making of that scene, actually. Some really amazing technology put to use.

Aye Flame, I hope that the third movie answers the matrix within a matrix theory. I'm a little worried however cos this theme has been used in many movies in the past. One film being The Thirteenth Floor about a guy who creates a matrix like program and it is so like real life, one of the characters in the program actually creates his own similiair program and it goes on and on.

Another one I rewatched on the weekend is "eXistenZ". A flick about virtual reality games. Within the games the players use virtual reality equipment to go "further in". Then when the players attempt to "back out" into reality they have no idea where their reality really is--are they still playing the game or not?

That one is very good indeed. Weird part regarding the bone bullets gettin thru metal detectors and then you see the actual make-up of the weapon. I enjoyed it.
One film I watched recently and that was Equilibrium. I strongly suggest watchin it, mainly for the plot. If anyone has read Brave New World, it's along these lines, ie. a fictional possible future where human feelings are eradicated to eliminate all possibility of hatred and war. Extremely good film

Ahh, the special is for special occasions only...
Hehe, that was a trip to watch.
In regards to the discussion about the Matrix, I'm going to have to agree that the only explanation (besides 'it's a movie and they can do whatever they see fit') is the matrix within a matrix theory.

I am a big fan of the Matrix. I really enjoyed the first two movies and am looking forward to the third.
Consider this, what if either Neo has some form of ESP or his bonding with Smith might have affected both of them.
If you remember in the first movie that Neo destroyed Smith by entering his program and some how causing a deresolution. That union might be the cause of what happened in the second movie. There might have been a accidental mixing of abilities that exceeded what either could have done alone.
Smith having the ability to travel through the the phone connection which is the direct connection to humans brains and somehow interfacing with a human and taking control inside his brain is really very possible if not plausible. Remember that the human brain is a biochemical computer of sorts. Sense his program has become a virus of sorts then it is very possible for him to travel into a brain and take contol.
This union could also help explain how Neo got his powers outside the matrix. It is also possible he has telekentic powers. We also must remember that in the many of hundreds of years that humans have been enslaved by the machines and the tampering that the machines have done to specific humans might be the cause of neo's evolution.
The issue of why Neo fought in the playground with Smith is he had destroyed him before and was not expecting him to be able to handle him. He wanted to destroy him again and make sure that he would not come back. It was not until he was overwhelmed that he decided to flea. He is trying to change the matrix for the better. His power over the agents might also have made him rather cocky and willing to fight instead of running.
In my opinion there is no Matrix within a Matrix. The people of zion are fighting for their freedom and Neo is there savior. But this is all speculation of course and I hope the final film will reveal the truth.

Watched the third one at the weekend. My g/f and I are hardened Matrix fans - correction WERE hardened Matrix fans until we watched that miserable display of special effects, tongue in cheek corny one liners (in fact, I dont remember any proper conversation) and stupid vague, storyline links even down to the producers losing the actress who played The Oracle and having the script writers write in an explanation for the new actress.
This has got to be the worst sequel in the history of silly sequels. The first matrix was a film in its entirety and I've never seen a film ruined so much since the original Highlander was ruined by every sequel which followed that.
Damned upset I was walking out of the cinema.
