This is something Meenie asked on Vent on night a few weeks ago.
What's peeps favourite 5 computer games of all time?
Apart from ao and other predictable stuff. Go back as far as ZX Spectrum, general coin op games, CBM64, Amiga, PC, jeez, even the old BBC Micro / Acorn Alectron (only one game really there, the original Elite).
Whats yer favourite 5?
I'll start with mine:-
Jeez, I'm spoiled for choice here but I'm gonna go with:-
ZX Spectrum.... Shadowfire (by Beyond software)
Manic Miner / Jet Set Willy
CBM64..... Paradroid
Amiga..... Syndicate
PC...... The X-Com turn based strategy series.
I've got loads really but these are a few.

Hmm, that's a tough one. There are far too many games I've really enjoyed, and not so many I'd classify as favourites. But some most memorable:
Double Dragon arcade at the local sports centre, playing with my friend. It was co-op right through to the end, and then you fought each other to win the girl, haha.
Stunt Car Racer
Secret of Monkey Island
Settlers
Lotus Espirit Challenge (My most played game. I have 2 and 3)
All on the ol' Amiga

hehe yeah, double dragon 2 was fun on Amiga too. Used to love the fact that you couild hit each other too in the mayhem
))
Stunt Car Racer
)))) That was so good on those rollercoaster tracks.
Monkey Island is a legend too and the Settlers series.
I got hurt once in school and underwent an operation on my jaw and while I was in hospital, my parents bought my Populous for the Amiga.... w00t !!!! My first god game. That was a blast
)
All good games Flame

Favorite 5? Difficult, very difficult.
I've been gaming for the last 22 years or so, and played games on too many platforms to really remember them all.
Some games do stand out more or less though:
C64: Neuromancer
PC: Deus Ex
PC: Fallout
PC: Fallout2
PC: Planescape:Torment
Honorable mentions:
PC: Heroes of Might and Magic
PC: Wizardry 7
Amiga: Great Giana Sisters
Amiga: Defender of the Crown
C64: Wasteland
I could add to this list all day, too bad my memory is starting to fail so I can't remember all those games I played and loved 15-20 years ago though. I can just vaguely remember screens of the games but not their name nor the company which made them.

I'll add a few more to my list......
Way Of The Exploding Fist C64
Pyjamarama - ZX Spectrum
Laser Squad - ZX Spectrum
Monty Mole - ZX Spectrum
Great Escape - Spectrum
Lords Of Midnight / Doomdarks Revenge - Spectrum
Spyhunter - C64 / Spec
Dune 2 Battle For Arakis - Amiga
Megalomania - Amiga
I have over 2000 games for both C64 and Spectrum though including all the above for my PC emulators so I can still play em when I want to. Obviously I dont cos I'm addicted to ao but its the thought that counts

Planescape: Torment - first game I ever played to the end. And I'd do it again in the blink of an eye!
Silent Hill - Just played parts of it, but sheesh, how incredibly scared I was!
Phantasmagoria: A puzzle of flesh - Wow! Great, intriguing, intelligent, scary...the works!
Those have to be the top three.

I can't believe you guys forgot one of the most important and influential game titles to hit the market.
1) DOOM!!!
Was my first serious 1st-person shooter, and I LOVE 1st-person shooters. So you couldn't jump or crouch...or anything cool like that. Did it matter? I'd sit in the dark, with my headphones on, and get the CRAP scared out of me by all the weird noises. Woot!
2) Mechwarrior
Yet another great game! A 1st-person shooter in a giant robot! How much better can it get?!
3) Duuuuuke Nuuuuukeeeeeem
I'm here to kick ass and chew gum...and I'm aaaaall outta gum! Second generation 1st-person shooter built from the ground up by 3D Games. Full of corny, one-liners and graphical 'bad girls' that flashed you and said dirty things to you. I mean...how fun is that?! The best!!!
4)
Oh wait. Only 3? Drat.

I came to the PC scene quite late, so missed out on many games. Was just thinking of a couple that caught me for a long time though:
The Sims (wait for my bloke to return from work, 2 mins on gym, 1 min on chess board, 2 mins kiss wife, 5 mins call friends, eat, wash, sleep, go to work, repeat
)
and
Thief 2 (that really had some atmosphere).

Damn, Doom..... sorry for missing that one. I had my fair share of Doom sessions on LAN.
And to be honest, I'm surprised Smacdevil hasnt mentioned Duke Nukem cos we used to talk about that quite a bit. Laser trip bombs and pipe bombs were fantastic
)))))
About the headphones, I used to wear em for the very first Quake game. Jesus, used to scare the shit out of me to the point where I wouldnt fight, I'd just turn around and run with the noise of the monster close behind me.
