15.9.5 Patch - Veterans Program
Today the latest version of 15.9.5 will be patched to test live and it will include a new veterans program for AO This has been in the pipeline for a little while but we wanted to keep it as a (hopefully pleasant) surprise for our loyal players coming up to our four year anniversary!

You can find the details of the program here on the official site.

We hope that our players will like this new additional program, and whilst I am sure that some people will have different opinions about what should be included in a veterans program the devs feel that the items available will be both enjoyable and useful in equal measure.

...and for the forum addicts stuck in locations that can't see the official site, here are the details as posted on the official site

The 15.9.5 patch will see the introduction of special rewards for veteran AO players. To mark the celebration of AOs fourth anniversary celebrations our veteran players will now have access to special shops that offer some very unique items!

Gameplay Features

- Veteran shops are located in Tir, Borealis and Omni-Ent.

- Players will be awarded veteran points based on how many months they have paid for access to Anarchy Online.

- Veterans points are awarded as follows:

- 6 months = +1 Veteran point

- 12 months = +2 Veteran points

- 18 months = +3 Veteran points

- 24 months = +4 Veteran points

- 30 months = +5 Veteran points

- 36 months = +6 Veteran points

- 42 months = +7 Veteran points

- 48 months = +8 Veteran points

- Veteran points will apply to every character on an account, even newly created ones. So if a veteran player elligable for 10 veteran points creates a new character that character will have 10 veteran points ready to spend

- Each character on an account can spend the total number of points so veteran points are not spread out across all your characters, if you are elligable for 10 points every character gets to spend 10 points each.

- Veteran points will be used to buy items from the special veterans vendors

Design Considerations

The aim of the veterans program is to provide veteran players with some unique items reserved for those who have played Anarchy Online for some time.

Some of the items are fun cosemtic items that we think our veteran players will appreciate and are in keeping with the sense of humour and style that Anarchy Online is reknowned for.

Secondly there are items that make the veterans life easier on their alternate characters (or even their main character in some cases). These include the option to use veterans points to purchase a low requirement Yalmhaha or even some tokens to boost your token board.

What we did not want to do was create a “them and us” situation where veteran items were seen as in some way essential to have a good character. To that end you will not find any items in the veterans program that make your characters more powerful or add stats.

The point of the veterans program is to provide some fun and to help veteran players with some of the repeatable tasks on their alternate characters.

Its also worth being aware that Wwe may also be adding more items over time so players should be aware of that when spending all their veteran points.

Nope... the correct number of points would be (and I'm quoting Silirrion)

The points are cumulative so a four year player with all 48 months paid would have 36 points (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8 )

:D :D/ 8)

hmm, will be interesting to see what kind of items will be found in the shop, although I bet that most of them will be of no use to mains or to 200+ chars.

Every character on the paid for account gets the same number of points to spend, so guessing that some will be end game stuff, some will be all level stuff, some will be low level stuff and there will be fun stuff in there too, last bit according to Silirrion.

So this means that all alts on the same accunt get the same benefits, which is really cool :D

Almost wanna re-activate just to see what they put in the Veteran Shops. Doesn't sound anything terribly appealing to be honest, though. Some fun stuff, of course, no doubt.

Not enough to pay a full month for, though.

FunCom...next expansion, plz. :P

Gimme....

Well I guess most items will be more of a status simbol as anything else. I wonder how will be points calculated for one creating account and canceling it.

A little more info posted by Xyboc on the official forum

Logged on test, and the contents thus far contains items such as: Alphabet shirts, QL30 Yalms, Shark hat, A treatment pack that heals for 1600ish, and heals for more when upgraded (but locks skills for 20mins and shortens with upgrades - infinite uses), some shadowland recall item - warps person to garden if key equipped, and other various items.

I can see many veterans being pleased with these items so far, and as the points count the same on all your alts on the same account the only thing I can say is WOOT :D
