Any way to change the colors from this 'friendly' blue color, back to the browns of the old forum?

It is something we will be working on as an option. I am not sure how to setup themes on phpBB, but I'll download it and install it locally to try and sort it out. Give us a couple of days or so

what i know it is. Have used phpBB before.. And what i remember there is a options that does that in the admin place

You may prefer the subsilver2 style, which you can change to in your User Control Panel > Board settings.

This might be a bit more like what peps are used to. Quite a similar design, layout and icons as old forums.
