Psy actually bought a phone where the manufacturer determines what you can and cannot run on it from the point of purchase to the point when you realise that it is a locked and heavily restricted platform. At least the S60 platform the current Nokias run on do not have a Lord Almighty Steve Jobs determining what you can and cannot do while using them. Plus if you want to write code for them you have to buy a Mac with Leopard running on it to use the SDK, although the programming language, Objectice C is available for multiple platforms, and have to pay a minimum of $99, up to $299 a year to allow the written applications to be deployed through iTunes, from which Apple will take another percentage.

Something you feel passionate about, Jasp? :o

I have to agree though. There are many things I detest about the iPhone, plus I am still incredulous at just how much crap Apple has been able to shovel onto consumers (perhaps vis-versa: consumers simply accepting their crap). However I argue that as an "experience" the platform still is the winner. It's terrific to use.

Anyway we could all argue over phone tastes until the cows come home I'm sure.

I bet Apple have an App to help you determine when that is

It is something I feel passionate about, if only because I really dislike the, to be honest, few and far between people that insist on thrusting the device in your face and saying how awesome it is, and who won't take any criticism regarding the lack of basic features and software lock in.

I have a N95 because it does the basics well and has a nice feel with a few extras should I want them, the Xi is there because I can use Goto My PC on it and remotely access work machines should I need too, any time night or day.

Funny thing was, my boss bought one, got me to configure it for email access, decided that one day everyone in the company will be using them as contracts are updated, until I pointed out that I thought they were great for people, like him, who work 6 hours a week and have loads of free time. Since then I haven't seen it

nice jasp ;p

i also admit there are loads of problems with the iphone, mainly through how apple decide you can use it, but if you jailbreak the phone as i did, it does open up a lot more options for you, i know it's not how Steve Jobs wanted the phone was to be intended for, but who cares what apple thinks?

i mainly chose the iphone for the internet browser and the build in ipod, which both work great for me ^^

and sword i didn't pay for the iphone ;) got it free on my contract with o2 :)

I have a Samsung Blackjack 1... it's becoming ancient tho..... thinking of upgrading, but haven't really looked at the new phones... now there's the mini laptop that works as a phone, net surfing, video conferencing (cybor to a whole new level!!!) etc... maybe I'll get one of those.
