Memories

Well, seeing as I will be in bed when SL goes live [cries]... I thought I would reminisce a wee bit.
I registered back on the 30th June 2001, as soon as I could get my hands on the game.
My first char was.. a Nanomage NT. He got to level 6, got stuck in a wall (which broke my heart) and stayed there for over a year.
My second char was an Agent called Vhairi. What I loved about AO was the exploration and wonder.
I remember the first time I saw a Virulent Minibull South-West of WA. A few of us hardened vets (hah!) were in a team and fresh from a few minor successes we thought "no problems!" Well... we were pounded.
My ego took a dent and I vow I am going to exterminate every bull ever sired by that evil bugger!
Back then it was bot mountain, OT camps in VW, Snake pit, Rhino camp in VW, Reets/Shades/Vultures and Temple (not TotW) in GTC, Cyborgs in Avalon, Bullies, Claws (PM) and lots of others. We roamed the breadth of Rubi-Ka to hunt our prey and it was FUN.
The first time I got a Yalmaha I must have been 70ish, maybe even 80-90. It took me several weeks of non-stop blitzing and selling to save up for one but boy was it worth it! (I wanted one ever since Azzazzimon gave me a race in VW and beat me.. even though I had snared myself multiple times for insane run-speed).
Then I took retirement for a while, eventually coming back as Rahmorak. I must say Home missions are a game-breaker. Tedious but a necessary (?!) evil.
With the release of Shadowlands I am hoping that that for a time at least AO will once more be aflush with adventure and exploration and the feeling of the unknown. So.. I recommend that if you want to REALLY enjoy AO avoid any guides you might see for a while at least and just EXPLORE.
Rahmo.
