A Striking Storm

[Hejiro]

This was going to be prose, but on the bus one evening a poetry version came to mind.


A STRIKING STORM

Sand: it surrounds me.
The violent winds cast the desert floor into the sky.
I am a whisper in the sand.
I am one with the storm.

Storm: we move as one.
Ground under my paws, limbs rush my feline form forward.
Claws extended.
I smell the prey.

Sentry: he sees me,
a speeding blur coalescing from the storm-blown sand.
His shots burn me.
Vengeance masks the pain.

Strike: I leap.
He is crushed to the ground, neck clamped in jaws.
Spatters of crimzon.
The prey becomes still.

Score: it is settled.
Vow fulfilled, body left to the elements, I depart.
The sands consume me.
I am one with the storm.

((Hehe, Vix. I always enjoy heading over to the WE Poetry&Prose forum, as there's always something great to read there. So that was inspiration.))

I have always been a desert man. While I do sit around in WA for practical reasons, the endless miles of sand and rock is where I'm most comfortable -- studying the environment, taming the elements, dancing in the storms.

Admittedly, I don't actually have sabretooth form, heh, but it felt more appropriate for the telling of this story (more appropriate than the wolf I really was).
