I have a Char going on Wind,

Name: Nakka Peroni

Prof: lvl 17 Scout about to become an Archer

Craft: lvl 10 Blacksmith , specialising in Fletching

Having a ball of a time

A few Observations

No Uber Loot, everything must be made, and everything is within your reach.

An Uber guild is not a requirement, im haveing a great / productive time on my own.

H, has a far lighter atmosphere, not as gloomy as AO, and by that i mean, the music and visuals.

it is possable not to kill anything, and still develop your char.

No Yalms !!!!! its great , Yesterday i went on a scouting mission, ran to the far side of a huge island, it must have taken me 30min+ to get there.

was a real adventure, and i didnt even see another player.

no need for alts, you can train in anything

stopped by Selavi's place on sunday for some coffee, and i had a look at Horizons. and it looked good. for someone who has played as many RPG games as Selavi (think we are talking hundreds), this game seems "right on target". :D

first impressions - all my personal opinions

good:
- the school-system (you can change "profession" as you go)
- the graphics was good
- macro editor in-game
- shop system (putting stuff in shops for sale at a price you determine, or just sell it to a vendor if you please)
- house/town building
- everyone can team up with everyone (no level requirements)
- very good chat system

not so good:
- way too much tradeskilling
- the way the game handles lag is very bad
- char movement looked weird
- no PVP

these are just my first impressions after looking at the game for 1 hour, so shouldnt be taken too seriously. just felt like sharing some thoughts.

After a brief look at horizons I have decided to close my account with them. The movement of the figures is not at all good and the look of the game is cheap compared with AO. It just does not seem as good as I would expect and you will not be seeing me on it again.

I've been checking out screenshots of Horizons and other online games, and while it doesn't show animation of course, I do feel AO has a real classy, mature look. Everything from character shape to poses to models in general -- it's all quite impressive.

We won't mention the inclusion of g-strings, though... *ahem*

Still, I wouldn't mind testing some other games some time, just they never seem to ever get released Down Under ;) I liked Lindbeck's first impressions list above.

what no g-strings? wtf am i supposed to do there :(

i wanted to try Horizons out but there is no pvp which kinda sucks and that's one of the main things i enjoy about as of late. i might still try it out because i am very bored and i left AO again.

maybe i will see some of you there. who knows.

cheers,

It appears that Atari soon got the transatlantic account working. Sometime this month by the looks of it. But the best news is that we can transfer exisiting charachters over to the shard of our chosing, or so the rumour is. That way a characther isnt "wasted" :)
