What do you mean by a lot bigger?

Like:

Anarchy Online - Attack of the Alien's mothers in law ???

Or:

AO - Bronto Tycoon ???

Or maybe....

AO - The Patch - yes folks, coming this millenia to a store near you, the expansion to fix AO for good ($299.99)
(No guarantee's given, all rights belong to FC, be prepared for a large download patch to patch the patch after installation)

wow...yall really hate this. Ok...so now I know why i was never able to arrange a casual get together at Reets, the social aspect of the guild is rather low. The reason for the guild HQ's is the social aspect. And of course, the brining together of people to defend cities sounds to good to be true.

Theyll have most of the features in. These guys actually know what they're doing. If you want an image of a game that has none of the things it promised, play Horizons (It promised, Castles, layered clothing, advanced AI, constant war...ad many other things).

Ans I highly doubt theyll raise the price. EQ has what? %0 expansions and its only $13

Don't hate it Volais, we're all just tarnished with FC's past history so are now far more realistic about our expectations for the add-on ;)

I'm pretty sure most folks will shell out for it no matter what... as Sid says, we're all hooked... we must be or we would have followed you to Horizons ;)

Oh and I think EQ has a ton of expansions as far as I know...

Not sure where in Horizons you have been hiding out Volais. So far I have seen all of those things except layered clothings, but I cannot remember reading anything about that, so not sure what your talking about. As for FC and what they promise, I can mention plenty of things promised in SL that never got to be in the finnished product, so guess those guys dont know more of what they are talking about than any other game producer out there

Sel,

I have to agree with Volais on that for once. I saw the first Horizons hp about a year ago. They were promising a LOT of things... among others a radically new gfx engine. From the Test screenies, it would have beaten SL hands down. Now what? I have seen screenies of Horizons. The char animations seriously suck. They in fact suck so much, that I could patch together ther models in 3DS Max with the (really) meager skillz I possess.

I was quite interested in Horizons when word about it first spread. Not to necessarily leave AO, but just to play a fantasy MMORPG.

The result is rather shameful.

It's in people nature I think...its always easier to focus on the things you don't like or didn't get, than on the things you actually did get or that is really good...they become "taken for granted" some how.

I am the same, but trying the opposite for a change  and I enjoy things more.

First off, I commented on the things Volais mentioned. Those things are there, he must have missed it somehow. And graphics, kinda agree about charachter animations. They could certainly be better, but they dont suck, at least not by my standards. But surroundings is one of the better I have seen in any game. That did beat SL hands down

Well... I've never been one for actually playing so to speak... well... not playing the way most do. In short, I talk to much, try to make friends and sometimes, from logging in to logging out, I have never even equipped my rifle and fired any ammo.

I enjoy ao in ways which, to me, are priceless so Aliens invading my new house in our guilds city? Bring it on... I'll still be sat on the wall in WA havin a good chat with certain close people until I feel like playin.

The first thing I thought of when I heard about this "Alien Invasion" was: is FC doing a Withered Aegis vs Populace (Aliens vs Rubi-Ka) thing? I just got that impression.

I think that idea would work, even if it was a direct rip off of Horizons ;) But I find the mentions of Rubi-Kans coming together against a greater threat a bit odd, as you'd think FC would be trying to cause more division between the factions so that the damn war can finally be settled :p

Selavi...the castle that I speak of are the human castles. No..they dont exist. There used to be one plot near South Marsh I think, but the recently changed it to a commercial plot and its been sold (On Dawn at least). Also, the constant war...no, there is no constant war. They promised that the war would NOT be GM controlled. That wed be in a constant struggle to push back the WA. Right now, we can fight the WA all we want, but till the GMs deside to push the, back, nothing will happen. Their to preoccupied with the Satyr Caves and the WA's current attacks on outlying cities...they are interesting, and I di take part in the Defence of....damnit, forgot the name. But it isnt as fynasmic as it was supposed to. As for the AI...Artifact said that the AI would be super intelligent. Like, they would put a very weak monster in the middle of the road and wait for a traveler to come and kill it, and while the guys occupied, they ambush. So far, all the damn things do is wander around.

But Ill admit. The combat is fun, it is pretty (Sid, it isnt THAT bad...), and it has a good atmosphere...i love hangin around my home town (Dalimond)...and even if the first guild I joined was filled with a bunch of jackasses(the reminded me ALOT of you guys....then they turned on me) the people can be really nice.

My main complaint is that,. AE has really dropped the ball

Oh, one more thing. We were supposed to figure out how to rescue the subed races on our own. And we were supposed to be able to rescue any race at anytime. I personally like that idea a hell of alot better...

EQ has 400 000 players*, so they can afford to keep their prices down. keep in mind that EQ has been around for half a decade, and got a head start on attracting a large ammount of the MMORPG player base.

* not because its so damn good.

Aye...but also....DAoC, UO, every MMORPG out hasnt passed the $13 mark (Cept Lineage...but...that game sucked anyway). Point is, Funcom isnt dumb enough to do that. The alien invasions will just add a little more to their barely taxed servers. The reason they only need 2 servers is because they have some VERY nice servers (Although their network code isnt amazing), if they had to add more...then we may have to pay an extra buck...or 50 cents or somethin...
