Some people are just about to accept the loss of an item. The story
Cant beleive the measures some people go to, to get even, or how a game can be so addictive that they take these steps. I heave heard of this happen before, but this sort of tops all these stories.

Whoah...that's some serious sh**!

Makes you wonder, though, about the laws and stuff. Should in-game items (rare types or hard to get at least) be considered personal property? :?

I would have thought that all items, including the characters are the property of the manufacturer / marketing team. Hence the selling of money / items / accounts on ebay is frowned upon not just because it's cheating the game, but because it's against the property policy. Afterall, we pay to play the game, we're not actually buying any belongings with our fee.

Dont quote me though but this is what I thought

I dunno (not about the selling for ££) but whoever created the item/code whatever - it's the players themselves who've put in the hours, weeks months camping mobs, training skills to tradeskill, finding items etc.

While at the minute the games policies state otherwise, reading up on some of these kinds of cases some countries are looking more into the ownership laws & who really can claim owns the items.

Its really interesting stuff... If funcom came along & said hmm alien armour is too uber, we're deleting it from the db, its ours so we can, I'd be devestated. I spent time & effort to get demon that stuff, and it's certainly not easy to make  Cost a lot in time & favours for the right QLs...

They've actually done that before if I remember correctly. Storm Armor. It was just before I joined I think.
It was this really killer armor (for the time) that dropped off Avalon guards or something. They deleted it or something. *shrug*
Now...if they did that to, say, Tier 3 Armor...I could see throwing a sh** fit. LOL! That stuff is too much of a pain in the @$$ to get.

Maybe that's why Funcom is opening in China and not South Korea. Wonder what happens if China adopts some virtual property laws.

But still, it's sad to hear stories like this. Can happen with anything people are obsessed about I guess.
