Some things you will learn in your first month in AO

1. Bosses are tougher than they look.

2. Leave the kiting of 20 mobs to the higher level NT's. Your level 5 NT just can't do it.

3. Leets are indeed cool.

4. Within a week of going to SL, you will have memorised every pixel of the respawn location in the Nan garden.

5. Doc's and NT's don't make good tanks.

6. Hecks really don't like you.

7. Everything else doesn't like you much either.

8. Getting T1 armor takes more time than you think it does.

9. Getting T2 armor takes alot more time than you think it does.

10. Buffs are your friend. Don't be afraid to ask others to buff you.

11. Implants make all the difference.

12. Having a lot of high level friends really helps alot.

13. Armor actually makes a difference when you reach ~CL100

14. Low level symbiants are all crap.

15. After going to OA=>Jobe=>10,000cr portal to get to the shadowlands 500 times, someone will tell you that you could have got there quicker and for free using the transit portal SW of Wailing Waste.

16. Schoel is a horrible place except when you'r killing hecks for xp.

17. The drop rate for insignia's in Schoel is about 500 in 1.

18. HoT's and Layers make you into superman for a short time.

19. You never have enough credits.

20. That item you really need to buy now, costs slightly more credits than you actually own.

21. Token boards are nice, but take ages to level.

22. RK XP is terrible in most cases.

23. Bad teams can ruin your day.

24. Good teams can make your day.

25. Your org mates are always there where you need them.

26. Aliums are fun. Get off your arse and get some CRU!

27. You can run 4 instances of AO on a decent PC.

28. The newbie area is filled with 8 year olds insulting each other with "your mamma" comments.

29. Yalms are bloody expensive but cool and tons of fun.

30. 4 years into this game and you still won't know everything about it.

31. Ely Hecks can't swim....you can.

32. At some point you will sell something and then later realise it was worth 10 times what you sold it for. Check before you sell.

33. A friendly heal or buff while passing someone in trouble can make a friend or a million credits (twice so far for me now..hehe)

34. Those omni city guards that kick your ass at L20 will regret it later.

35. While you can solo most things early on, it is a 100 times better to team up. Nothing beats a good team.

OMG. All of these are soo true. Dunno about part 27. Never tried and i doubt i have a good enough puter.

But you just hit the nail on the head with those. Wish i knew all of this when i was a new player.

Kid seems to have captured the essence of AO certainly, except for the, one more point in EvadeClsC or Burst at level 73 issue, but we can forgive him for that

A nice thread Kid, and a point well made. Wait until you get to spawn and pull Mercs, that will introduce a completely new thread style to you

i ran 3 instances no problem last year, 3x 1280x1024, cpu was athlon 3200, vid was radeon 9800

now sadly i struggle with 2 instances @ 1600x1200 on a pcie geforce 6600gt ath64 3800

1600x1200 !!! Thats some seriously high resolution. I had no idea you were a graphics junkie!
