*Sigh* once again...the longing for those old lands has hit me. I got an email recently....it was my old EQ guild that I once ruled over. Its still kicking...only slightly bigger. Just recently, they declared a new city as their capitol. Well...I was sad after hearing the news. When I declared the city of Freeport as our Capitol, I hoped that it would forever remain like that, Things change though..

anyways...the guild got together and took a screenshot for me. *Sigh* So much I have missed....so much I have lost...

On the the next one...Horizons....Its just cool! Awsome....Really awsome! All those features really get my blood pumping...but I wonder....it just doesnt have that same EQ feel....I mean...it wasnt my first MMORPG (EQ that is) ...but It ws the first one that i felt at home playing...from the loading screen faturing that purdy High Elf and the soothing music...to the wide oceans that I would spend my time exploring (I would jump off the ships and go to the most remote island possible)...EQ just had that special feel...

And the last two...FFXI and WoW....both seem interesting...but ill say it again....theres that EQ feel that both seem to be lacking....

Dont worry folks...Ive stayed in AO for to long...so im not leaving....yet....

Although...when i look at it logically...there is no real reason for me to keep playing...The game play, while interesting...justdoesnt "Feel" right. Im having a terrible time lvling so im stuck doing the same thing with the same equipment everyday. Noone really just "Hangs out". No casual get togethers at the Cup...no disco night at Reets...

Yeah...why shouldnt I pull the plug right here and now? The answer....is Cerberus...yeah! YOU guys, and more specifically..the Old Rubi-ka Freedom Fighters (What? I dont know all you that much yet!). Somehow a buncha computer chair jockies got me to stay here.

So be happy...your the one thing between me and my beloved Everqest (Oh...did i mention that since Aos not to hard to hack...its also a problem)...Ive grown used to you....why oh why...and HOW did i make friends here?

Hi Volais,

im an old friend of the Rollerrat-head of Cerberus.

i was a member (and later on advisor) of The Rollerrats for 15 months. im a RL buddy of both Nussefreak and Selavi, and Jodius is my brother. Legrandchef even came to Norway this summer, and brought me a bottle of my beloved Jack Daniels :D .

however ... somewhere down the road my interests in AO turned different from the rest of the rats, and i desided to join up with Forsaken. this guild has given me all that i need to keep paying the monthly fee to FC, but of course there are times when i miss the ol' days.

the time when we picked missions in Avalon just cause the knights outside Camelot had cool graphics, spent days and weeks hunting in Varmint Woods, explored scenery and game mechanics, had no whompa to Bliss but had to run there from West Athens, shit our pants when we ran into a sand wurm outside The City of Home... etc. the list is much longer.

my point is ... a change of environment can be healthy. like changing a job, you shouldnt stay too long at one place as you need development. Volais: if you choose to change game, guild or just game-hours is (of course) up to you. but you sound like you need a change of some sort.

well, that's the one thing i like about Shadowlands ... all the "hanging out". 15 hours hanging at Slithers, 10 hours hanging at Parasites, 6-8 hours hanging at Dogs, 5-10 hours hanging at Golems and 3 1/2 hours hanging at Eremites. not to mention the hanging out for faction points, which is so stupid and f**ked up it makes you wanna cancel that AO account and never look in FCs direction EVAH again! :o

then why don't i?

well, occationally i have a flashback from past times. last night we did mercs and OMG i won the bid for Azure Breastplate!! all the hanging out mentioned above can actually be fun at times ( :o yes i know, i never thought i'd say that) and like you said Volais i love all my friends and the community too much.

lots of players have their fingers on the cancel-buttons now, and the whole reason is lack of ... no, not lack of ... BAD content and bad gameplay since the release of Shadowlands. we are all doing our own little ego-trips to get us the items we need to get into the next playfield and get us the items we need to get into the next playfield to get us.................... some help out others, some dont, some are getting shadowknowledge and some are still working to get into Adonis and some just dont care. all in all, this would have been ok if you could SOLO SOME OF THESE DARN QUESTS! sometimes i log on late (european time) and everyone is busy doing their stuff. earlier (on RK) i could kill an hour soloing something, and at least get a small reward if nothing spectacular. in SL ... noooooo... i cant do squat solo once im in Adonis and beyond. of course i can kill alot of the mobs solo, but hell .... i dont get any SK ... and faction ? well i can get some faction on my own, but its B.O.R.K.E.D... so it takes too friggin' long.

i wish FC would/could/wanted to see the mess they have created. but i guess im just hoping too much.

this ol' doctor will stay with AO/SL until FC pulls the plug. i just hope most my friends will do the same. no MMORPG is fun without friends.

hang in there!

well i am officially leaving AO MOnday and it is doubtful that i will some back. i will play FF XI and see how things go there and then eventually WoW, but i will ultimately end up with the game Storm choses to go to.

there are things that i don't agree with, namely the way FC handles thing and for this i refuse to support them by keeping an account open.

i am not sure about Horizons but i might try it out. Dark and Light looks ok and so does Dragon Empires, both of which are in the early beta testing phase.

gl to you in whatever you decide to do. if you see Addice/Antord/Kokane in another game then it will most likely be me :D
Gaara: I finally understand... I am alone! I will not believe anyone anymore.... I will not love... I'm on my own... haha... thats right... I'm all alone.

Volais, what level are you now? I think we must be in very different time zones cuz I only think I've seen you once in West Athen - but if you can team with my lvl 105 NT Ofdarkness, let me know :) I'm currently token farming for my 1k board in ql 89 missions, so if you're lower lvl than that, the XP should be very free if you tag along ;)

i just wanna add, for the record, that those who recently started playing AO have gotten their hands on a fantastic game, with TONS of things to do. the "new" players are not the problem... as i see it.

the problem is us who has played AO for 2 years, been 200 for quite a while, hanging at mercs and other uniques on RK ... waiting for something new ... and the new we got is NOT what we hoped for/expected.

thats where the problem is, and thats what FC needs to look into.

what have i accomplished since SL release? well... i havent developed my char, thats for sure.

Yep, i know the feeling lind, i'm not even close to 200 and i see much out there for me to do. SL is unplayable, i just go there to look around and farm loot for my shade. I don't have much motivation to level...got mostly QL 200 armor, QL 200 weapons...in 10 levels i can use new nanos i can cast now but can't because of level req's...BS missions bore me but are the only way to progress, and going to SL is just a lesson in frustration. So i make lowbie alts...but for what really? To get to title level 5/6 and be bored again? Its truly the friends i've met that are the only thing keeping me here. :-?
