Absent for a while

Postby Nusse » Tue Apr 13, 2004 2:01 am

Due to the fact that the nerve that controls movement on the right side of my face decided to go on vacation for 3-6 weeks, I won't be logging in for a while. My face is 50% paralyzed as a result of it, and playing AO or any kind of 3D-game is very hard. I still might pop in from time to time but for very short visits, ie less than 10 mins at a time to see how people are doing.

Some observations:

1. Eating makes you bite your lip all the time since you're kinda used to move it out of the way when taking a bite, and since you can't move it - it's kinda in the bloody way for your teeth all the time

2. My 1971 model body is not equipped with eyelids that have default position closed - which would help sleeping a lot, instead they've got default position to on which is kind of a drag when you can't close the eyelid. If this happens to you hope and pray that you're not of a similar model/make

3. Laughing/smiling when it's only one side of your face that actually moves makes you look like a maniac - even more so if you already did

4. Trying to drink from bottles/cans is very messy, and important to avoid in company of others

5. The use of an eye-patch does not make you a pirate

So for those of you attending the RL event this Saturday who haven't met Nusse before - it's the guy wearing an eye-patch, talking out of the corner of his mouth and drinking beer with a straw. Can't miss him :)

Poor guy. I kind of like the eye-patch though......

Well at least I have something to go on when I'm trying to recognise the guy collecting me from the airport (apart from the leet doll of course :p). Like I said in pvt, it's a pity Nusse is gonna have a hard time recognising the tall skinny guy whos lost, on the wrong flight and prolly ending up in a different country ;)

Regarding the biting of the lip thing, I have no feeling in the right side of my lower lip due to damaged nerves from an operation on my jaw when I was 15 years old and yes, many occasions Ive taken a bite and bitten straight through my lip, only to find out by looking at the plate in front of me so I know how that one feels :(

I wish you a speedy recovery, my good friend and I'm truly looking forward to meeting you and Nyna on Friday :)))

When you've got problems closing the eyelid the eye goes dry pretty fast - light in dry eyes does not feel too good - and a dark eyepatch actually helps.

Sorry to read this post Nusse and wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery. By the end of Saturday night we will probably all be dribbling out of our mouths anyway.

Ack, just as my work-load starts to lighten up (meaning I will be in-game more) you go and send your facial nerve on a vacation, jolly inconsiderate old chap! Mind you, having to control that ugly mug every day for 32 years would make anyone need a vacation so I don't blame it.

Joking aside, I really hope you make a fast and full recovery. :(

Oh bugger, I have a 1971 model too. Mind you, mine is half-Irish so I might be OK.

Fast recovery, Nusse.

Give it some time, might be weeks before things slowly get to normal. Nerves are funny like that.

:)
