may be pulling the plug on AO

Postby Microscan » Wed Nov 10, 2004 4:00 pm

hey!

Due the recent event ingame i may be pulling out on AO.
I realy realy lost most faith in the game after loosing 110m on faithful making armor, talked to a GM that was a pain in the ass and told me i did all the right stuff xept one right click on a item.
In my 3 yrs playing i hawent asked once for help from a GM, when i did i realy felt like a idiot after and worth nada.
I might be coming back tho when my mind cool down and i feel up to it again, i realy dont know.
To all of my friends in Cerberus i love u all and u r a great bunch of ppl, im glad i did meet u all.

ur friend

Sorry Micro :( You're not alone having made that mistake, I also did the same with my back item (yes it became Enforcer mantle). No fun.

Don't let it ruin the game for you though, it's not the end of the world unless you want it to be  Hope to see you back ingame soon :D

I was also devestated to become the proud owner of a soldier shoulderpad :(

It's horrible - I was really upset & pissed off with Funcom. Please don't let it drive you from a game you normally like tho

Ack Micro, that sucks big time :( I hope once you've cooled off a bit, u do eventually return, don't let a lousy, good for nothing ARK/GM stop your enjoyment...

BTW, what exactly is it that you should _not_ do... just so I don't fall victim to this problem too?

I dunno exactly what happened to Micro, but here's the reason why many get it wrong first time:

When you try to make the Tier3 pads or back item, you first need to use the Joker's Glyph followed by Glyph of the Arcana on the Basic Jobe Suit parts to make them QL 220.

Now, if you simply apply your completed Glyph of the World with the ql 220 pads or support system, the tradeskill process with simply turn the product into a certain profession's item, depending on some mechanics I am unaware of (could be random, could be alphabetical, could be according to database values etc.). And then you have lost your FRN, Blue Glyph AND Jobe Suit part. A shitload of time and credits, for most of us.

The correct way is to FIRST right-click your ql 220 Jobe Suit part until it changes to your own professial armor part - read the detailed item description. Only after this, must one apply the Glyph of the World.

When you upgrade a piece of Jobe Armor to Advanced (with Jokers Glyph) and then to Excellent (with Glyph of the Arcana) you have a

Excellent Jobe Back Item (with no profession)

As several professions share one type of Blue Glyph the upgraded piece of armor will default to one profession (enforcer for Aban). To avoid that you have to rightclick the item before you add the glyph, making it a profession specific version.

This only is valid for pieces where no Tier2 exists!! If you make a correct Tier2 piece you cannot end up with the wrong profession!!

A long time ago they reimbursed items or changed the Faithful-Item to the correct profession but in some patchnote they clearly stated how to do it and that they are no longer going to replace anything.

Game Mechanics
Holding down the right mouse button now again allows you to look around by moving the mouse.

Items
Some weapons introduced recently should now be more available due to the source(s) being tweaked a bit.

A problem with producing Chosen and Faithful back items has been sorted out. Bureaucrats, Engineers, Fixers, Keepers, Meta-Physicists, Nano Technicians, Shades and Traders can now click their "Excellent Jobe Suit Support Unit" to create a profession specific version of this back item. The new version is then combined with the appropriate glyph to produce the Chosen or Faithful back item for the profession. Agents, Doctors and Enforcers do not need to upgrade the "Excellent Jobe Suit Support Unit" to combine it with the appropriate glyph. Soldiers, Martial Artists and Adventurers should use their Second Tier back piece to make the Chosen or Faithful back piece.

The GM basically told me - talk to your IPS - follow their instructions to the letter and you cannot go wrong.

AND - for crats at least - the backpack & shoulderpads & helmet all have different recipies... so be really careful :? (I know this isnt true for all profs tho)

Sad to hear there are no turning backs on expensive things like these.
What a GM should do in a case like this is to Take the wrong part, and hand the player the parts so he can go through the process again. A GM that only stands there pointing a finger isn't very helpful and is actually just waisting time and money.

I hope you find a way to come back. I just came back from a years absense, and I'm having a ball!

There are T2 crat shoulderpads. So you have to make Tier2 Pads in order to upgrade them to Faithful. As with every other armor part too where a T2-version exists.

Summa summarum: A poorly designed and implemented tradeskill process that is bound to create many unhappy customers. And FC just shrugs it off instead of re-designing it! How extremely arrogant of them.

Just wanna add my story to this, Micro, so that you see youre not the only one "med skjegget i postkassa"

I am the proud owner of a Faithful Enforcer Backpiece, after having made the exact same mistake......not clicking my jobe piece. I was arrogant enough to beleive, that the process I had always followed would be the same for my backpiece, but alas.....no.
I got the same Ark/GM treatment....."our process is absolutely bug free, so please allow me to shit all over you. Anything else I can help you with today?"
