This last day of this year...

Place to hang out and talk about anything.

This last day of this year...

I want to send my thoughts to the victims in Asia....that terrible disaster!
I want to send my thoughts to those countless children, who lost their fathers and mothers and siblings, now all alone in terrible fear and confusion....to those children for whom reality dealt such a terrible blow.....to those children who were ruthlessly ripped away from all that was safe and warm ......from childhood.....can they ever be children again?!
Ive seen their pictures....big empty eyes, notes held in a small defenseless little hand "Missing mother and father and brothers and sisters".....I am a grown man, but tears flow.
How I wish I could put my arm around them..tell them to crawl up to me, and hold me for a while.....and to be able to suck up all the hurt and the pain.

And yet....this is but one disaster. Every day, every year.....children all over the world experience this, under various circumstances.
How blessed we are, to live in relative safety, to be able to give our children the safe haven they need to grow up to be strong, creative citizens.
And how we take it for granted.......
Life......its a mystery!

Very touching and apt Cogs.

I have set up a website as a prelude to actually having the company I work for being able to support the effort for these poor peoples directly. We are looking to start receiving and distributing food, supplies and essential equipment such as baby bottles to those hardest hit.

It has some information, live news feeds and links for where to donate, if you wish to visit.

It can be found at Asia Life Aid

It is only in its' first stages so critiques are not necessary, I know where improvements can, and will be made.

Please have a look and do what you can.

I will also be asking Funcom to see if there is anything they can do to promote it in game.

It's very hard to understand the devastation and horror that has occurred. When I see the pictures of children looking for their parents or people looking for their children I can't really picture how I would react if it happened to me. I have four children of my own, and the shear thought of loosing any of them makes me shiver and I can almost see myself scream "Nooooo!". Still, that's only a thought. To actually be at that point of having lost one or several members of your family must be the most devastating thing to ever happen.

I have friends in Thailand who haven't yet managed to get home but I know atleast they are okay and alive. I know a few who lost relatives in this disaster and my work now is to comfort them in their sorrow.

My thoughts are with the people of Asia and their horrible loss.
