Doom and gloom on the NT forum

Postby Legrandchef » Wed May 25, 2005 12:25 pm

I have been taking advantage of the downtime to read the NT forum. It's a wonder there are any of us left. I agree with a lot of what they say and am not surprised we are a rare breed at the moment. Need decent calm.
Urgently.

It's always a shame when there are problems that just make a prof not worth playing. Has there been any sign that 'upgrades' are coming?

There seems to be some weird feeling by Funcom that NTs, while they need 'a bit' of work, really aren't as bad as many high level say - or so I get the impression from some of the discussions that go on, with devs like Karma...

This nt feels that if he had not put so much time into Chef, he would walk away from him. He had two strong points in the past: calming and damaging dealing. Neither of these two applies any more. When someone runs damage dumper in SL missions I am always at the bottom of a team. Calms are so ineffective in SL that I might as well not bother using them. It's embarrassing when there is a trader or a crat in the team too, as their calms appear to be so much more effective. I say that NTs need a lot of work in this area. The only advantage I have over other characters is the area nuke and the ability to kite so that I can collect items in a short space of time. Above all, I would like a more effective and reliable calming ability. This is what I prided myself on most of all in the past, and it is now a lost ability. I would not say that other professions don't also have things they could complain about but I am an NT so I complain about NT things. I know that the buying and selling of accounts is illegal but if it were not, could you see anyone parting with RL cash for a high-level NT account? I couldn't.

Gone on a lot here, but there you are, that is how I feel.

As far as I see it Chef, regardless of profession traits and disadvantages, you are an extremely valued member of the guild, and your support in damage and calming on any raid is welcomed at all times.

I can appreciate your frustration, but you have our support, and anything you need, within our power, we will do :)

I support you 100% Chef, NTs are SEVERELY gimped compared to FC's "love child profession" a.k.a. Advy, MA, Keeper. One would suspect that melee professions get most attention from the devs...

Question is, how can it be fixed? The NT forums were and still hopefully are full of creative and quite realistic suggestions, but FC hasn't listened since the issues arose (well I don't count the AI DoTs and cyberdeck upgrades as fixes... the effects of these are miniscule). The player feedback has been massive, no doubt about it (Rahmo, Satenia, Maxnano and many others), so it's not like FC have to work it out for themselves... I just hope they in their 'wisdom' see fit to devote some resources to NTs.

Chef... from my experience - and although it may not be the optimal thing - IF you aren't enjoying the NT endgame at the moment, might I suggest playing some other profession (at least for a while) if that gives you greater enjoyment? I mean, there is always hope FC fix some of the worst problems (dmg and survivability) soon, so don't give up !!! And like Jasper said - you are highly valued no matter which profession you decide to play :)

Hey Chef,

Good to see your still going at it,

i have an opinion on the NT situation, and its not good, but remember its just my opinion and probably wrong. :p

When AO was first created, EQ had a problem, and that was the mage class,
they were uber, they could tank and were top damage dealers. now this went on for some time, and the Mage Tanks were becoming very popular. and way out of ballance.

The Devs in AO saw this, and were adament that they would not make the same mistake. this decision was good.
but they went too far, ever since beta, NT's have been getting nerfed, a new patch or new features would be realeased and the "improvements" were always scalled down and diluted for NT's.

stun....nerfed
calms.....stealth nerfed, by not introducing new lines to cope with SL
layers.....stealth nerfed, by not introducing new lines to cope with SL
dmg.......stealth nerfed, by introducing the cybor deck

The disturbing part of this, is that even tho the staff at FC has changed and even the management have moved on, the Directive that NT's must be carefully examined after any class modifications/ patches or ad-ons has remained. and the result is the NT as you know it today.

ive been complaining about the NT since launch, i love the concept, and didnt want to give up, but the carrot of a nt luv patch has been dangled for 4 years now,

the FC Directive of Moderate changes to NT's
is the only viable explanation,

btw, i have a mage in wow, there pretty cool lol
Maxnano.......214 NT.
Weemax........190 Keeper.
Bluemeenie....175 Fixer.
Fangtooth.......158 Adv.
DrFroid...........151 Doc.

Elektraa..........28 Warrior WOW
Cpt Max..........6mill sp char, Eve
Fangtooth........SWG
