An old, old friend!

Postby Cogs » Wed Oct 12, 2005 2:12 am

Ok, brwosing another forum, I came across this picture. The post was made on the 15th of Sept, and made me jump in my chair. Those of you that were in RKFF will hopefully know what Im talking about :D
Now....this guy is one of the best youll ever come across, and....well.....if some of you old RKFF guys could please send him a greeting from me, I would be very grateful :)

Can you spot who Im on about? :) My guess is he is still in RKFF, in fact. As he never left.

Lol, when we were in Excalibur (Hope, F, Patherson and crew remember), we had a guild meeting on top on Camelot castle and after the meeting we all had a fall damage competition to see who got the most damage by jumping off the roof. Hehe good old days ;)

Fall damage was removed in one of the pathces following SL. I remember all the toons jumping off the ledge in the Jobe backyard, committing suicide. Also remember the tremendous amount of fall damage you would get when jumping off the ledge in Scheoul. Right beside the gate. Think I had 1.5k as my top one. lol. was fun tho. quite the drop.

Haha cool, yeah the drop from Scheol would be a nasty amount of fall dmg. As would the Inferno jump off :)

Although I gotta admit, I despise fall damage in MMO's, the ability to lagdrop/walk/run off a ledge is infamous in MMO's and hence the reason I hate fall damage. The amount of times I lagged a bit in WoW and fell off a damned cliff and got stuck down there or just died instantly.

Realistic is good, but there's no such thing as lag in R/L :p (Well, maybe unless you're drunk)

They removed fall damage before then I think, Selavi. I remember them at least turning it off before then due to a bug where one would exit their yalm and, no matter the elevation, would warp to the top of the sky and fall to their death. Was rather annoying cuz it happened somewhat randomly.
The turned it off...turned it back on...then turned it back off 'until it could be fixed'.

you might be correct Gear, but I remember distinctivily getting falldamage in Scheoul, and also from the Jobe backyard platform. So might be that they couldnt fix the fall damage in yalm bug, and turned it off instead. But also remembering either hearing or reading somewhere that the noobs jumping off the platform in Jobe backyard and die, caused them to turn it off. Not sure realy. Most of the shit you hear are usually rumours or speculations mixed together with certain people insisting they know everything :P

There was a bug yes, and an exploit. Quickest fix was to turn it off. Doubt it will be turned on again

"170 sol lfg" haha. I remember way back when I just couldn't believe how much Archm could level up. He was a machine. This was when I was still around 50 or 60 on my original character! 170 seemed sooo high back then.

Hope he's well. I often wonder how long lost friends are doing these days.
