Legrandchef's absolutely pointless running quest.

You thought the fixer grid quest was a pain? You thought Bazzit's quest was pointlessly difficult? They haven't got anything on me!!!!
Since I was promoted to advisor (president actually, for about 1 minute because Jasper made a tiny little error and blamed it on the lag) :-'' I thought I should dream up something of a challenge for you all.

Pick a city in Rubi-Ka and run from it in four directions: north, east, south and west. Post a brief comment on anything you saw, met or anthing else you can think of. The challenge is that you can't possibly stand the boredom of this quest and you can't possible find anything unusual or of interest along the way.

I don't want to do these all myself so feel free to post a city name, direction you have run and anything you have found. I'll edit this first post and keep an up to date list of runs which have been done.

Here is my first:

Old Athen: direction South
Ran south from OA and through Rising Sun.
Saw a lot of trees, sand and grass and a little bit of water. Stopped run at ICC. You get the idea?

Old Athen: direction East
Ran east and saw more trees, grass sand and rocks. Stopped run at edge of map. Saw a Cyborg camp.

Old Athen: direction West
Found West Athen

Old Athen: direction North
Due North you can't go very far but with a little swerve west you can nip through the gap into WW and in the NE corner is Supply Master Smug.

(Comment in background: For God's sake, someone demote him back to member)

2HO to ICC

Postby Kid » Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:15 am

Been there, done that.

About 2 weeks ago, I used grid to 2HO not remembering it's ful of those trigger happy Omni guards. Decided to run for dear life and some guards decided to follow.....for a long long distance.

I ran south east'ish and saw a few camps and alot of grey mobs. Managed to agro a few green/yellow mobs along the way to add to the fun. Found some rather steep cliffs that kinda got in my way and pissed me off for a bit.

Most interesting part was running across a L53 boss in Andromeda. Great xp and decent loot for my level.

So, 40 mins later (mid-200 run speed only) I arrive in ICC, and deleted the 4 missions I had in Stret East Bank. Went back a few days ago and got me some sweet sweet revenge on those guards.
-The Doc that runs away lives to die another day.
-I am not prejudiced againts Omni's. I hate everyone equally.
-My computer goes down on me more often than my girlfriend.

Just an idea to go with Chefs quest. Souffle?

Um, everyone make an alt(lvl10) and we have a race from point A to point B, on RK ofc. Need a route that takes u past/thru lots of mobs. Twinking and outside buffing allowed :)
Just an idea.

Oh, and Hi all :-''

Any level will do really, from the point of view of exploring. But a low level run could be fun also. I'll think about a route and see what the lowest level is that can make it through the circuit. You can run it in stages if you like. Watch this space.

Low level run is a great idea. I remember when I used to go hunt some carbonrich rocks at the areas they appear at a very low level, and had to evade all the crazy mobs on the way which could kill me with like one hit. That was damn fun now that I think about it.

I still remember one of those times me and Zuntsu went to hunt some carbonrich ore for our nanos. It's one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had in AO. :) I think we used those little cars, kodiaks, and drove south in Avalon dodging those very nasty deep red birds. It was very scary but still so fun for a low level noob. :) I remember us ending up to that big tree made out of notum.. I miss a lot those days when there was something to explore on RK and some danger involved in it too.

So I'm up for some kind of race any time! :aliendance:

When I was a wee noob and in my first team mission I managed to get killed twice in quick succesion. The protective chain death thing then spawned me in Tir, my first time there. I knew nothing of gridpoints or wompahs( doctain told me later) and proceded to run to athen, being chased on the way by all sorts of wierd mobs. I reckon my lvl to be around 12ish at the time.
Now to recreate than run as a race would be cool, not everyone would make it I'm thinking. If it's a success maybe it could grow....will mull it over whilst I'm state side.

Might manage to poke my nose on tonight
