A guild eh?

Place to hang out and talk about anything.

A guild eh?

With all the things happening lately with SL, people getting banned and general frustration about AO, I thought I write my thoughts on what I think a guild is.

When i first entered the training ground back in the haydays and was approached by my good friend Nussefreak, he asked me immidiatly if I wanted to join the Rollerrats. Of course, I said in response. It was after all in that guild all my RL friends was a member, and it was among those I wanted to be. That is the essence of a what a guild is to me.

Now, there are plenty of guilds out there providing just that, if not all of them. But there are also plenty of different goals and ideals among these guilds. And not all of them will agree with your own way of thinking, your own goals and last but not least the type of playstyle you prefer.

Goals:
Every guilds has it own set of goals. They either being providing their members items, landareas or RP (to mention a few). You would for instance find mostly fighters in a fighters-guild, spellcasters in a mage-guild. Now here on Rubi-ka there are very few guilds like that. We got Mockers and Guild of Meta-physisits. But mostly guilds are put together with a wide range of profesions, wich all contribute their speciality. But the latter types of guilds wont have any Soldier or Fixer type goals, but rather goals fitting for all types of profs.

Friends:
We all have our friends here, in guild and outside of guild. We all like to surround ourself with the ones we like to hang out with and that share our way of thinking and our ideals. It is those things that knit us together, not the loot handed down to you from the goodness of others. Its the respect you earn and show others because you and they deserve it. its the metal of your heart and the support of others that make you wanna come back for more. Its your friends that comes to your aid in time of need and not a stranger on the streets (sometimes strangers will though). These are the peole you depend on, and they depend on you. This is imo what makes up a good guild.

So to sum things up. This is what I think a guild is for me:
The place where all my friends are. The place where I share my goals, thoughts and ideals with others. The place I turn to when things look gloom. The place I seek up after a hard days of fighting. The place I call home. This place called Cerberus...

My sentiments exactly! Cerberus (or whatever guild has what it takes for me to call it 'home') is what keeps me playing this game - through times of extreme frustration (12.6 anyone?) and in times of prosperity. I keep thinking how amazing it is, that Cerberus, despite its size and growth, is able to provide me with this same feeling of belonging to a tight-knit group of comrades, as my first guild did. It's rather nice :)

Signing off.

Hit the proverbial nail smack bang in the middle of it's head with that observation Sel :D agree 100% Cerberus is all those things and more to each and everyone of us.
