Tier 1 Armour Tiny little warning

Postby Legrandchef » Sat Nov 01, 2003 3:35 am

When making your tier 1 armour and clicking on it to upgrade it, please make sure that you don't make armour that you cannot wear. I managed to make my first piece of NT tier 1 armour yesterday and after I had clicked on it to upgrade it, reached level 147. I then took the storm carb which I was wearing off and which I cannot get back on without the help of an enf and a doc. I naively assumed that things would not be so set up as to permit me to make the armour beyond a level I could not wear but that was just what happened. The NT tier 1 armour would not then go on in place of the carb and I was left with no chest armour to wear. Without the kind loan of a VT egg to buff my intelligence (thanks Lenita) I would have been unable to put the NT armour on. Had I already been wearing 2 eggs instead of just one there would have been a frantic search for some int buffing items. Not impressed, Funcom.

Clever man u are, this is a very useful post indeed. I didn't use my initiative as much as Chef here when I equipped so I didnt alert ppl but I know how important it is.

My armour is sense / agility based, I am the only profession which can buff these skills and I struggled at Q160. Even with FG, ES and composite boosts I couldnt equip so had to shove on a Tir ring to do so.

I agree with Chef here, just be careful folks :)

Yes, this is true. A good tip, is to use the Armor Config tool on Auno or aodb, to interpolate your armor piece at various levels and plan how far you can take it from there.
You can find that tool here Mainframe Armor Tool

Helps some.

Ran into this with other things as well, such as the Physician's Cap and the Repairman's Hat.

I've submitted a bug report with Funcom a few minutes ago (it finally annoyed me enough) and I strongly suggest everyone that runs into this does as well. Let's get this fixed before some lvl 220 updates his Faithful Armor fully buffed/equipped and can't use this nice armor s/he's been working on for months.

It isnt a bug, Funcom will stress that it is the players responsibility to level his/her armor to within the required skill levels for his/her character. At least I would see it that way.

To which a simple reply would be "Well, then the requirements for the next level should be listed on it"

The fact that Living Cyborg Armor works correctly indicates to me that it is a bug. Either that, or they have a new item designer that's a bit slower than a lvl 1 atrox. Either way, a change really needs to be made.

Maybe not a bug, but poor design/overlook. Imagine making an extreme twink, and being forced to do it all again just becuase the armor went above the requirements you meet, and you had no ingame way of knowing what they would turn out like.

I think the Living Cyber Armor works properly, or at least it used to when I got it on Ofdarkness a few patches back.

Edit: Damn Fasteel, you're too fast for me ;)

I'm not disagreeing regarding there being a problem, all I'm saying is this... Funcom as it stands does not have the resources to fix every bug / petition / email issue they receive. With this in mind (apart from fabvouritism towards guilds and majority complaints etc), they look to see what is actually necessary and what can be 'lived with'

My Ruse yalm bug when I go really small so others cant see me will NEVER be fixed. Reason being.... yes, its a bug but take ruse off and its no longer a bug ;p

This armour levelling issue will not be fixed or at least i would be very surprised. Reason being.... if you want to know what Q you can equip at maximum, you can look any Quality of item on any database... see the requirements and make your own judgement. Funcom don't have to put requirements on the last level as long as there are sufficient tools for the player to do this.

And these tools we use to figure out what stats the pants will have if we rightclick on them, are not supported by FC. In fact they look at them as spoilers, and would ban any player using them if they had a way to find out. Hell, they ban people for using clicksaver, but 100% of the playerbase use it, so they cant do that

That doesnt mean Funcom arent aware they exist. This alone allows Funcom to ignore certain aspects of their incompetence and lets them get on with more pressing issues.
